What the guarantee covers
| Scope of the job | Workmanship guarantee |
|---|---|
| Imbiza did the subfloor preparation (moisture test, repairs, screed or self-levelling as specified in our quote) and the installation | 12 months |
| Installation only, over a subfloor prepared by others, or where recommended preparation or moisture protection was declined | 12 months, excluding faults caused by the subfloor |
| Sanding, staining and sealing of existing timber floors | 12 months on the finish we applied |
Workmanship means the way the floor was prepared and fitted. It includes:
- Planks, tiles or sheeting lifting, bubbling or peaking because of how they were installed
- Click joints opening or gaps forming because of incorrect expansion gaps or fitting
- Adhesive failure on glue-down floors laid by us
- Seams on welded vinyl sheeting opening
- Screed or self-levelling we applied cracking, hollowing or de-bonding
- Skirting, trims, thresholds and transition profiles we fitted coming loose
Manufacturer product warranty
Every product we supply carries its manufacturer's warranty, which runs separately from our workmanship guarantee and is often much longer (for example up to 30 years structural on some engineered oak). Warranty terms per range are listed on each product page and in the downloadable documents where available.
We handle the claim for you. If a product fault appears, you contact us, not the manufacturer. We inspect, document and lodge the claim with the supplier and keep you updated until it is resolved.
What is not covered
- Water damage from leaks, burst pipes, flooding, spills left standing, or wet-mopping floors that are not waterproof
- Rising damp or slab moisture where we recommended a moisture barrier or drying time and it was declined
- Structural movement, new cracks in the slab or building, or subsidence
- Normal wear, scratches, dents, pet damage, sun fading, and damage from furniture without protective pads or from rolling loads without mats
- Cleaning with products or methods the manufacturer does not approve (see our maintenance guide)
- Damage caused by other trades after we hand over, or by alterations and repairs done by others
- Natural variation in colour, grain and shade between batches, and natural movement of timber with seasonal humidity within the manufacturer's tolerances
- Products supplied by the customer (our workmanship is still guaranteed, the product itself is not)
How to make a claim
- Email info@imbizaflooring.co.za or WhatsApp +27 81 302 1036 with your name, address, invoice number, a short description and a few photos.
- We reply within 2 business days and arrange an inspection, normally within 5 business days.
- If the issue is covered, we repair or replace the affected area at no charge and agree a time that suits you.
Conditions
- The guarantee starts on the date the installation is completed and applies once the account is paid in full.
- Please follow the care guidance we give you at handover, and report any issue as soon as you notice it so it does not get worse.
- Where a repair is needed we match the product as closely as possible. If a range has been discontinued we will agree the closest alternative with you.
- The guarantee is transferable to a new owner of the property within the guarantee period.
This guarantee is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, including the implied warranty of quality on goods and your right to services performed in a proper manner.
