The brief

As part of a home renovation by RANQS Projects, who handled the renovation and laid the new pine floors, this Kalk Bay home had brand-new boards through a room downstairs and a converted attic, supplied raw and unfinished. Our job was to bring them to life and protect them: sanding the new timber smooth, warming the colour, and sealing it to last.

What we did

We machine-sanded the new pine to an even, clean surface, then applied an Oregon-tone stain to give the boards a warm, rich colour rather than the pale look of raw pine. To finish, we sealed the floors with a durable polyurethane sealant, a tough, wipe-clean surface built for everyday living. In total, 16 m² in the room and 36 m² in the attic, 52 m² in all.

Finishing new timber properly matters: raw pine is soft and marks easily. The right stain sets the tone you want, and a good polyurethane seal is what protects the wood and keeps it looking good for years. See our Sand & Seal service.
