The brief
Rhenish Girls High School in Stellenbosch was fitting out a multi-level space that needed three different floors working together: a hard-wearing staircase, a warm and quiet finish through the main rooms, and comfortable carpet in the loft. Every surface had to sit on a base that was sealed against moisture and dead-flat, so nothing would lift or telegraph later.
What we did
We started with the groundwork, laying a moisture barrier and a self-levelling screed to give every finish a sound, level base. The staircase was built in Oggie Ona Rustic engineered oak, finished with custom oak stair nosing and slotted aluminium non-slip strips for safe, everyday school traffic. Through the main rooms we installed 175 m² of Floornet Roccoco Heavy vinyl in Hazelnut, finished with a vinyl scrub and seal, and in the loft we laid 60 m² of Floornet Blooms 500 x 500 carpet tiles in Amarula, for 235 m² of floor in total.
The result
A cohesive, hard-wearing fit-out ready for daily school life: a solid engineered staircase, warm vinyl underfoot in the main spaces and soft, practical carpet in the loft, all built on a sealed and level foundation.
